I was shocked out of an abnormally deep sleep at 7am this morning (well, 7.03 to be exact), by the flat buzzer going off... Momentarily confused by the fact I had slept through my alarm, which was blaring in the corner, and the lack of girlfriend next to me, who I'd not even noticed getting up, my mind cleared sufficiently to establish what was going on.
A whoop of delight from the front door a couple of seconds later confirmed the happy news - J's passport had returned, resplendent with a new red, white and blue insert stating that she now has clearance to travel to the US for the next 10 years!!
Although she sailed through the embassy interview last week, we're both pessimistic enough that we didn't want to start getting too excited before we saw the visa in black (or red & blue) and white. It was therefore with baited breath that we waited for our happy arrival this morning, and full Noo Yoik planning to begin in earnest.
Must admit, there have already been some preliminary notes made, after we allowed ourselves to buy a guidebook on Sunday and then sat in the pub, half-watching the rugby whilst planning the attractions we need to see. Pretty much one a page in the 350 page book. Suddenly a week doesn't seem like nearly long enough.
